Chesty
Posted by The P.L.U. at 10:10 AM Labels: art, colored pencil, pen and ink, practice, sketchbook, tattooProduction has petered off a bit lately, but I've been steeling myself to make some really cool stuff. I entered this into my sketchbook a little while ago, but I haven't really felt it. What I have been feeling is a wave of general positivity from this endeavor, which is very reassuring that I am going in the right direction. I feel a certain falter creeping up on me, though, in terms of how I approach the creation of tattoo designs. I guess I need to keep myself as busy as possible and not worry about it, to prevent any such stumbling from happening.
The design above was my first crack at a composition for a chestpiece. After showing it to some people, their general reaction was that it appears a little too illustrative, and that I am not allowing enough space for shading. I agree after having a second look, although I defend it by saying that there isn't much room for shading in a small sketchbook unless I work to keep things really simple, which seems to be the consensus. In any case, after an awesome Fourth of July weekend, it's back to the drawing board!
